What is the Inflow & Infiltration (I&I) Fund?

The City of Revere established a sewer mitigation fee and inflow/infiltration removal program to allow for the issuance of sewer connection permits for waste water discharges associated with new developments. Under this mitigation policy, all new waste water discharge for residential development of three or more units and commercial development are assessed a sewer mitigation fee based on accepted Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection standard formula. These mitigation funds are utilized for sewer rehabilitation work for the purpose of removing infiltration and inflow of ground water and stormwater from the sanitary sewer system.
