What are the jurisdictional differences between the Department of Environmental Protection and the Conservation Commission?

Conservation Commission jurisdiction concerns activities affecting water resources for which DEP ensures that the Conservation Commission permits are protecting the statutory interests of the Wetlands Protection Act including public water supply, private water supply, ground water supply, land containing shellfish, fisheries, storm damage prevention, prevention of pollution, protection of wildlife habitat, and flood control when it comes to development and redevelopment. DEP jurisdiction in Revere applies to various wetland resources including rivers, streams, creeks, the ocean, salt marshes among others and the 100 year flood plains of both ocean and river flood prone areas.
