What is a Planned Unit Development (PUD)?

The City Council may grant a Special Permit for the construction of a Planned Unit Development, which provides for a mix of land uses at a greater density and intensity than would normally be allowed. The approval of a PUD requires that the proposed land usage can be shown to be in the public good and will improve and/or reinforce the livability and aesthetic qualities of the surrounding neighborhood and/or environment.
